bullet  General Notes:

Family gossip says he married in Ireland but wife died...no children. Was said to live at number 27 on attached map, one marked Arthur Quinn. He passed property onto his sister Elizabeth Quinn when he died.

The owner of the property in 1860 was Arthur Quinn, then the 1901 census shows a Patrick Quinn, Head aged 78 who is living with his daughter Jane aged 37 years. No birth details on the Clonoe Register for either Patrick or Jane.

The 1911 census shows Jane as Head living with her niece Elizabeth Canavan. The next owner is Patrick Quinn and his wife Annie.

Comments from Brian Quinn regarding Patrick:

I met with an old lady today called Peggy Falls. Her Father and brothers would have owned the Grocery and Public House in Aughamullan.I'm sure your aunts that visited here would remember Falls. Peggy is about 86 years old. She remembers Patrick Quinn. She said that he was a puny or fairly thin man. She said that he actually worked aroud Falls who would also have owned a farm. She also remembers that he was able to do somersaults or as we call them here "Cartwheels."
She also remembers that he was a very holy man who attended Mass every day which would have been unusual possibly for a man at that time. Local people called him Apostle Paul because of this and some saluted him just like a priest.
Peggy also had a brother Peadar who was also a very holy man. I also remember him in the late 50s. He was also treated as being odd because of his religious outlook. His sister Peggy said that he eventually had to leave Aughamullan and go to Belfast to get away from cheeky locals.

The Bestman at Patricks wedding was Michael. This was Possibly the Michael Quinn who lived close to him. If you look at the Aughamullan 1860 Griffith map the farm was then also owned by a Michael.

I do not know if the bestman Michael was related to Patrick or if he just called on him to be bestman because he had no brothers here so a neighbour was picked. The Michael that I have just mentioned emmigrated to Canada circa 1930.
