The National Archives of Scotland holds the records of the Central Midwives Board for Scotland, which was established under the Midwives (Scotland) Act, 1915 to secure the better training of Midwives in Scotland and to regulate their practice. These records include the published Midwives Roll for Scotland, from 1917-1940. I have taken a look at the first volume, covering 1917, (ref: CMB3/1) and have found the following entry for a Rachel Clark, which may be of interest to you:
Number: 407
Name: Rachel Clark
Address: 5 King Street, Port Glasgow
Date of enrolment: 1916, June 16
Qualification: C.M.B. Eng. Exam, May 3, 1910
Rachel Clark, therefore, qualified as a midwife on 3 May 1910 through the Central Midwives Board for England: Admission by Examination. Unfortunately the roll does not give any further information as to where she qualified. I believe that records of the Central Midwives Board for England are held by The National Archives in London. You may therefore like to contact them to see if they can give you any further details about Rachel Clark. Please see their website for how to contact them: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk <http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/>.
